Communicating With Style

Overview:

Everyone agrees that "good communication skills" are essential for organizational and personal success. But what exactly are these skills, and how do you know whether or not you have them or need to get them? This course will answer those questions.

Who Should Take This Course:

Anyone who works with other people. Anyone who needs to learn how to stay in control, listen to other points of view, and deliver accurate oral messages.

Course Objectives:

Participants will learn and practice techniques for improving their communication skills in 4 critical areas:

  1. Preparing to Communicate: The Importance of Staying in Control
  2. Listening to Understand: How to use your EARS to make certain you understand all sides of a situation.
  3. Speaking to be Understood: How to convey information accurately and courteously.
  4. Summarizing to Move Forward: How to paraphrase to ensure understanding and agreement.

Course Design:

Communicating with Style is conducted over 1 day. The total cost includes pre-program interviews with and/or surveys of participants to determine their specific needs. The cost also includes preparation, instruction, and all training materials (substantial manuals) for up to 20 participants.
